The Plumbing Trade Your Remodel Depends On

Plumbing is usually the first trade in a remodel and the last one to finish. Before tile goes down, before vanities get installed, before fixtures get mounted — the supply lines, drain lines, and vent stacks need to be in the right place. Getting this wrong means tearing things out later, and that costs more than doing it right the first time.

We’ve been doing remodel plumbing across the Greater Southside Indianapolis area for over three decades. We work directly with homeowners, handling their own renovations, and alongside general contractors who need a reliable plumbing subcontractor. Either way, we show up when we’re supposed to, rough in to spec, and come back for trim-out when the project is ready.

Signs Your Remodel Needs a Plumber

You’re Moving a Sink, Toilet, or Shower to a New Location

Anytime a fixture moves from its original position, even a few feet, the supply and drain lines need to be rerouted. This requires opening walls or floors, extending or relocating pipes, and ensuring proper venting. It’s not something to figure out after the drywall is up.

You’re Replacing a Bathtub With a Walk-In Shower

Tub-to-shower conversions are one of the most common bathroom remodel requests, especially in Indianapolis homes built in the 1960s through 1990s. The drain location, valve placement, and waterproofing all change when you switch from a tub to a shower. This is plumbing work that needs to happen before the tile installer shows up.

Your Home’s Plumbing Is Decades Old and Needs Upgrading

If your home still has galvanized steel, cast iron, or polybutylene supply lines, a remodel is the ideal time to upgrade. Opening walls for a renovation gives us access to replace aging pipes without additional demolition, turning a cosmetic update into a structural improvement at a fraction of what standalone repiping would cost.

You’re Adding a New Bathroom, Laundry Room, or Wet Bar

New wet spaces require full plumbing rough-ins — hot and cold supply lines, drain and waste connections, and proper venting to code. Whether it’s a basement half-bath, a second-floor bathroom addition, or a wet bar in a finished space, we plan and install the complete plumbing infrastructure.

Your General Contractor Needs a Licensed Plumber

Many general contractors don’t carry a plumbing license. When the project reaches the point where supply lines, drain lines, or gas connections need to be installed or moved, they need a licensed plumber to handle that scope. We work alongside GCs regularly and coordinate our schedule to fit the project timeline.

Remodel Plumbing Services We Provide

Plumbing Rough-In for New Construction and Remodels

We install supply lines, drain lines, waste connections, and vent stacks for new bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, and wet bars. Rough-in work is done before walls are closed, ensuring everything is in the correct position for fixtures and finishes.

Fixture Installation and Trim-Out

Once your walls, floors, and countertops are in, we come back for trim-out, connecting and installing sinks, faucets, toilets, shower valves, tub spouts, dishwashers, garbage disposals, and any other plumbing fixtures. We install Moen, Delta, Kohler, American Standard, and Toto fixtures.

Bathroom Renovation Plumbing

Vanity installations, shower valve replacement, tub-to-shower conversions, toilet relocations, and wet space plumbing. We handle the full plumbing scope for bathroom remodels of any size, from a simple fixture swap to a full gut renovation.

Kitchen Renovation Plumbing

Sink relocation, faucet installation, dishwasher hookup, garbage disposal installation, ice maker lines, and gas line connections for stoves and ranges. We work around the cabinet and countertop installation schedule so your kitchen stays on track.

Why Your Remodel Needs a Dedicated Plumber

Avoid Costly Rework Later

Plumbing mistakes discovered after tile, drywall, or flooring is installed mean tearing things out and starting over. Getting the rough-in right before walls close prevents the most expensive kind of remodel problem, the kind you don't find until the project is supposed to be finished.

A Solid Remodel Adds Value

According to the Remodeling 2025 Cost vs. Value Report, a mid-range bathroom remodel recoups approximately 74% of its cost at resale. That return depends on quality work behind the walls — plumbing that's installed to code, properly vented, and built to last, not just fixtures that look good on the surface.

Upgrade Hidden Plumbing While You Have Access

A remodel gives you rare access to the plumbing inside your walls. If your home has aging galvanized or polybutylene supply lines, this is the most cost-effective time to replace them, with no additional demolition, no separate project. We assess the condition during rough-in and recommend upgrades where they make sense.

One Licensed Plumber From Rough-In to Finish

We handle both phases, the rough-in work before walls close and the finish trim-out after surfaces are installed. That means one team that knows the layout, one point of contact for your contractor, and no confusion about who installed what.

How We Handle Remodel Plumbing

Every remodel project starts with a site visit and a conversation about what you’re planning. We need to see the existing plumbing, understand the new layout, and coordinate with your contractor or designer before quoting.

Phase 1 — Planning and Quote:

We walk the space, review the layout, and identify what existing plumbing can stay and what needs to move. We provide a written quote for both rough-in and trim-out work so you have the full plumbing cost before the project breaks ground.

Phase 2 — Rough-In:

Once demolition is complete and framing is set, we install supply lines, drain lines, vent stacks, and any gas lines needed for the new layout. This phase happens before insulation, drywall, and tile. We coordinate timing with your GC, so the project stays on schedule.

Phase 3 — Trim-Out and Finish:

After surfaces are installed (tile, countertops, drywall, paint), we come back to connect and mount all fixtures — sinks, faucets, toilets, shower valves, tub spouts, dishwashers, and disposals. We test everything before we leave.

Pricing:

We quote remodel plumbing as a complete scope, rough-in plus trim-out. No surprise add-ons midway through the project. Financing is available through Wisetack for larger renovation projects.

What Our Neighbors Are Saying

INDIANAPOLIS WATER: WHAT'S ACTUALLY IN IT?

Indianapolis tap water runs 12 to 25 grains per gallon — anything above 7 is considered hard, according to Citizens Energy Group. That mineral load is why water heaters, fixtures, and appliances wear out early across the Southside.

Remodel Plumbing Questions

How much does remodeling plumbing cost in Indianapolis?

It depends on the scope; a simple fixture swap costs less than a full bathroom gut renovation with relocated plumbing. We provide a written quote after a site visit that covers both rough-in and trim-out work, so you know the full cost upfront. Financing is available for larger projects.

As early as possible, ideally during the planning phase. We need to see the existing plumbing and understand the new layout before your contractor closes up walls. The earlier we’re involved, the fewer surprises you’ll hit later.

Yes. We work alongside GCs regularly as the plumbing subcontractor on residential renovations. We coordinate our schedule to fit the project timeline and communicate directly with the GC on timing for rough-in and trim-out phases.

Yes. We handle both phases, rough-in plumbing before walls close, and finish trim-out after surfaces are installed. Having one plumber for the entire project means consistency and accountability from start to finish.

If your home has aging galvanized, cast iron, or polybutylene pipes and you’re already opening walls for a remodel, upgrading during the project is significantly cheaper than doing it as a standalone repiping project later. We’ll inspect what’s behind the walls during rough-in and recommend upgrades where they make sense.
